Markus Eckhart

Working on interfaces has been the central theme in Markus Eckhart’s professional career.

A native of Austria, he earned degrees from the University of Vienna: a Master of Business Administration (1998) and a Master in History (2001).

Markus started his professional career at Alstom and continued to later work for Mondi, both in Finance and Controlling roles. He joined Borealis in 2005 where he first held several managerial positions in the area of Finance, predominantly in the Polyolefins area, and group Business Support. Part of these assignments was leading cross-functional group projects in the area of performance management, portfolio management as well as coordinating advanced analytics initiatives of the largest Business Group in Borealis.

In his final role at Borealis Markus had headed the Strategic Marketing & Services department in Borealis Polyolefins. In this function, he was responsible for developing and implementing the Business Group Marketing strategy and for driving Marketing and Commercial excellence across different market sectors. This included various initiatives in the areas of competitive intelligence, customer insight creation and customer journey deployment.

As of autumn and via his own venture, 2019 Markus is supporting companies to master the challenges of digital transformation, based on both his professional background as well as his skills in behavioral economics. His focus areas are clarity of thinking, de-biased decision making and sustainable implementation, all with clear customer focus.
